How Do I Play the NYT Spelling Bee?
The NY Times Spelling Bee is a word scramble game.
- It uses a honeycomb pattern with six letters surrounding one central letter.
- Make words that are at least four letters long using these letters.
- Every valid word must include the center letter.
- You can use each letter as many times as you want.
- You get more points for longer words.
What Time Does The NYT Spelling Bee Come Out Each Day?
Every day at midnight PST (3 a.m. EST), a new NYT Spelling Bee puzzle is released.
Everyone receives the same game simultaneously, regardless of location. This is different from Wordle, which resets daily at midnight local time.
For example, a player in New York gets a new puzzle at 12 a.m., but a player in Seattle will still have the previous day’s word because it’s still 9 p.m. there.
We’ve adjusted our daily Wordle hints page to match your game’s timing. You’ll always get hints that match the puzzle you’re playing.
What Is NYT Spelling Bee Genius Level?
As you discover words and earn points, you’ll rise through a series of ranks or titles in the NY Times Spelling Bee game. “Genius” is the highest rank you can reach.
Somewhere between 12 and 45 percent of all players achieve Genius status each day.
You begin the game as a “beginner” and progress through ranks like good start, moving up, good, solid, nice, great, and amazing before reaching Genius.
The number of words needed to achieve Genius status varies each day.
What Is Queen Bee in Spelling Bee?
Yes, you can achieve more than the Genius rank. If you find all the NYT Spelling Bee answers in a daily puzzle, you earn Queen Bee status. It’s a title to be proud of.
